Strauss, Britten and Sibelius: Budapest Festival Orchestra

About the Event

Marek Janowski conducts the Budapest Festival Orchestra performing works by Strauss, Britten, and Sibelius from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The symphonic poem, "Death and Transfiguration," by the young Richard Strauss took inspiration from a poem composed by Strauss himself. German soprano Sophie Kluß joins the stage to perform Britten's "Les Illuminations", which was inspired by poems by Rimbaud. Sibelius' symphony shows influences from Wagner and Tchaikovsky.
