Staatskapelle Dresden & Renée Fleming: Richard Strauss

About the Event

Christian Thielemann leads the Staatskapelle Dresden in a program dedicated to Richard Strauss at the Auditorio Nacional de Música. Star soprano Reneé Fleming is the soloist for Strauss' "Four Last Songs", based on poems by Heinrich Hesse and Joseph von Eichendorff.

Inspired by Nietzsche, Strauss composed "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" in the late 1890s, after Nietsche himself referred to his own book as "nearly a symphony".
