Spanish SummerNight at Concertgebouw + Drinks & Bites

About the Event

Pianist Jorge Luis Prats and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte‐Carlo in a summer programme. Enjoy the Spanish landscapes and gardens in the works of Falla, Chabrier and others.

Jorge Luis Prats plays Falla

In the Master Pianist series, Jorge Luis Prats overwhelmed last season with an Albéniz programme. Today he takes the listener back to Spain — for the Cuban his second motherland. In Nights in the gardens of Spain, Prats solemnly presents beautiful musical sketches by Manuel de Falla. Stunning jasmine around the Alhambra, a dance party in a distant garden, and the mysticism of Córdoba. Three atmospheric nights in one enchanting piece of music.

Warm southern nights

Jorge Luis Prats is accompanied by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte‐Carlo, leaving his sunny home base for a summer night in Amsterdam. Conductor Kazuki Yamada leads not only Falla but also the famous orchestral composition España of the Frenchman Chabrier. On a trip through Spain he was struck by the country, its inhabitants and music. The rhapsody España set a big trend: after Chabrier came Debussy and Ravel with Spanish pieces. Motherorgski's Night on the bare mountain does not sound Spanish, but it is sultry, full of dark witchcraft. Also, sounds from Van Delius will fill in the venue with the beautiful orchestral fantasy In a Summer Garden.
