Sounds of Christmas

About the Event

In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical christmas music by Britten, Bruckner, Lauridsen, Rütti and Pinkham at Paris's treasured and world‐renowned Cathédrale Américaine.

The Paris Choral Society's December concert ushers in the Christmas season with a series of festive works, followed by some traditional carols where we encourage the audience to sing along and celebrate! Paris Choral Society will be joined by soprano soloists Sumei Bao‐Smith and Morgane Collomb.

Benjamin BRITTEN's Ceremony of Carols, one of the composer's most popular and frequently performed works, will be performed with harp accompaniment. Inspired by medieval poetry and Gregorian chant, A Ceremony of Carols contains both a Christmas story and references to the rebirth of spring.

Carl RÜTTI's Three Carols fuses the English choral tradition with other genres such as jazz and blues to create colourful textures.

Daniel PINKHAM's Glorious Christmas Cantata will be performed with organ and brass.

In addition, we will perform two a cappella works: Anton BRUCKNER's beautiful Ave Maria and Morten LAURIDSEN's heavenly O Nata Lux.

The evening will end with a selection of traditional Christmas carols for the audience to sing along to!
