Museo Correale di Terranova

Sorrento, Italy

There is a corner of Sorrento that is well worth a visit, it is the small and beautiful Museo Correale di Terranova.

Walking through the halls of this museum, decorated like an old mansion, with precious furniture, refined European and eastern porcelain and rare Neapolitan and foreign paintings, you will capture the extraordinary atmosphere made of lights, colors and fragrances of Sorrento.

The museum was founded by brothers Alfredo and Pompeo Correale, Counts of Terranova, the last descendants of an ancient family of Sorrento. In their will they provided their art collections, on display in the villa Correale, and constituted a museum in their name. Collections are arranged on three floors, with a total of twenty‐four rooms and the attic recovered as an exhibition space.

The Hall of Mirrors is located on the first floor, accessible by the imposing staircase.
