About the Event

This concert with the Gulbenkian Orchestra and conductor Hannu Lintu recalls the horrors of the Second World War through famous works by Krzysztof Penderecki, Richard Strauss, and Dmitri Shostakovich.

Shostakovich composed his Symphony No. 7 against the backdrop of the siege of Leningrad by the Nazi troops in 1942, synchronising real events and musical creation.
