Schubert's Lieder at L'auditori de Barcelona
About the Event
Started in the 2017‐2018 season, this focus dedicated to Schubert’s lieder will allow us to discover, over three seasons, a major part of the composer’s works through the voices of young Spanish and international talents that represent the future of the genre. Schubert Lied is organised by L’Auditori de Barcelona in co‐production with the Associació Franz Schubert and the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical.
The first concert will be performed by the mezzo‐soprano Marie Seidler and the pianist Malcolm Martineau. Seidler graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London with honours and was an award winner in the International Hugo Wolf Academy Competition and also won the Trude Eipperle Rieger Prize. She currently holds a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association and the Britten‐Pears Young Artist Program and is a member of the Stadttheater in Giessen. Her versatility permits her to cover a broad repertoire ranging from the Baroque up to the present day, with sacred music, opera and lieder. Malcolm Martineau is a veteran and renowned pianist who has worked with some of the best voices of our time, such as Ian Bostridge, Bryn Terfel, Anna Netrebko and Anne Sofie von Otter.
