Discover Rossini's operatic farsa comica, 'La Cambiale di Matrimonio' (The Marriage Contract), performed in a concert version by the ensembles La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy and soloists, under the direction of Jean‐Claude Malgoire.

Created in 1810 in Venice, when Rossini was only 18 years old, 'The Marriage Contract' is a virtuoso comic opera full of twists and intrigues, telling the story of an English trader who wants to marry off his daughter Fanny, who is already in love with a young man, to a Canadian merchant.

Sung in Italian, with French surtitles.
