Palazzo Albertoni Spinola
Located in the heart of Rome's elegant and exciting historic center, the Palazzo Albertoni Spinola is one of the Eternal City's Renaissance gems. Standing on the Piazza Campitelli, architectural features including an extraordinary work of forced perspective, and an exquisite rooftop 'secret' hanging garden make this an intriguing and delightful structure even in a city full of visual pleasures.
The home of the celebrated Albertoni family for generations was completed by the celebrated architect Girolamo Rainaldi, who, among other celebrated works, was responsible for the completion of Michelangelo's Campidoglio. The oldest parts of the building, known as the Palazetto or 'little palace', are connected to, and surrounded by, the great Palazzo in such a way that visitors do not know which structure they are standing in!
