About the Event
Celebrate the music that illumined the early twentieth century along with vast romantism of quartet by Mendelssohn.
Classified as a French Historical Landmark and located in the heart of Paris, Salle Cortot was designed by Auguste Perret, who is also the architect of the Champs-Elysées Theater. Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy unforgettable music in this stunning location.
Like Ravel, Debussy composed only one quartet. A single masterful score in a genre, at the time, not very popular with French musicians. The score makes no concessions to virtuosity. Half a century earlier, Mendelssohn's Quartet in F minor had made surprising combinations of tonality. Master of the sound space, the German composer offered posterity the harmonic link between Beethoven and the end of romanticism. He had less than four months to live.
