Poro: Dinner at the Gendarmerie & Music at Komische Oper Berlin

About the Event

Indulge in a feast for all the senses in the cultural city of Berlin and enjoy a delicious dinner followed by wonderful music by Händel at the world‐famous Komische Oper Berlin. Observe as worlds collide in a work that deals with antiquity, but foreshadows the conflicts that still confront us in the modern era.

Internationally‐renowned director Harry Kupfer returns to the Komische Oper Berlin with Händel's setting of Metastasio's drama of Alexander the Great.
Kupfer sets this production in colonial India of the eighteenth century, but the competing claims of love and battle, deceit and conquest, and the utopian idealism that permeates Händel's work are universal themes, equally applicable in the present day.

Start the evening with a culinary delight and allow yourself to be spoiled with a delicious dinner before the concert. The Restaurant Gendarmerie is only a few minutes away from the Komische Oper and offers modern Berlin brasserie cuisine in a stylish ambience.
