Poros — Georg Friedrich Händel: Komische Oper Berlin

About the Event

Observe as worlds collide in a work that deals with antiquity, but foreshadows the conflicts that still confront us in the modern era. Internationally‐renowned director Harry Kupfer returns to the Komische Oper Berlin with Handel's setting of Metastasio's drama of Alexander the Great.

Kupfer sets this production in colonial India of the eighteenth century, but the competing claims of love and battle, deceit and conquest, and the utopian idealism that permeates Handel's work are universal themes, equally applicable in the present day.
