Pictures at an Exhibition: Tonkünstler Orchestra

About the Event

Experience an evening dedicated to composer Modest Mussorgsky. The Tonkünstler Orchestra and baritone Vladislav Sulimsky perform under the baton of Russian conductor Dmitrij Kitajenko.

When Mussorgsky died in 1886 he could not predict the success of his composition, 'Pictures at an Exhibition'. It was only through Ravel's orchestration that the work gained recognition.
In this program, 'Pictures at an Exhibition' is combined with the song cycle 'Songs and Dances of Death' and the prelude to the opera, 'Khovanshchina'.
