Pianist Fazil Say in Recital: Prague

Relish the feted Turkish pianist and composer's depth of feeling and interpretative insight, as he plays Chopin, Mozart, Satie, and his own 'Gezi Park 2' at the Prague Symphony's Dvořák Hall.

Satie coined a new word in christening his Gnossiennes — a fitting action, considering the highly experimental musical language, and loose structure, of the works. Mozart's Sonata No. 12 and Chopin 'Nocturnes' provide a contrast in form, though not lacking in their own inventiveness. A committed activist in support of free speech, and an outspoken critic of demagoguery, Say's 'Gezi Park 2' commemorates in music the protests that rocked Turkey in 2013.
