Persius Ensemble Potsdam: Blankenseer Musiksommer

About the Event

The Persius Ensemble Potsdam is one of the few chamber music ensembles consisting of string, woodwind and brass instruments. The nine musicians from Potsdam focus on nonet repertoire — a compositional specialty which emerged between the classical and romantic periods.

This repertoire is characterised by colourful contrasts between the different instruments, the density of symphonic sound and dynamics as well as solistic passages for every single instrument. 40 of these nonets are a part of the repertoire of the Persius Ensemble. Today the ensemble is a part of the Kammerakademie Potsdam.

The Persius Ensemble is an ever‐welcome guest at renowned festivals and concert series in Germany. Their lively and vivacious performances and technically masterful interpretations are characteristics often emphasized by the press. The rare pieces as well as the arrangements of large symphonic works arouse particular interest in their audiences.
