Out in the galaxy: Tivoli Concert Hall

About the Event

Get ready for a special music experience of this year’s 'Summer Classical' at Tivoli Concert Hall.

On July 20 1969, Appollo 11 landed on the moon. This global event rocked the world. It was a turning point for people's self‐understanding — now everything was possible!
Although Holst and Strauss did not experience it in 1969, the two works are obviously favorites at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
Kubrick's film classic Space Odyssey 2001 has made the first minutes of Strauss' Thus Spoke Zarathustra as famous as the beginning of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
Holst also had great ideas that reached far beyond the earthly sphere. The English composer's passionate interests included Hindu philosophy and astrology, and his suite The Planets consists of seven astrological portraits depicting the characters or 'psyches' of each planet.
