Organ Meets Trumpet at the Capuchin Church

About the Event

You will be enchanted by this lively mix of well‐known organ music, works from pop music and duets with the trumpeter, which come together in this organ trumpet concert in Capuchin Church. The performance of these works on organ and trumpet by the well‐known musicians opens up new perspectives on each piece and lets you look back on the concert full of joy and positivity.

From July onwards, festive organ trumpet concerts will be held regularly in the Capuchin Church in order to make a special feature accessible to music lovers: In the course of the restoration of the Capuchin Church, location of the famous imperial crypt, a new organ was erected by the Koenig company. With its French timbre, it is unique in Vienna.

The organ is the king of instruments due to its wide range of timbres. Already more than 2000 years ago the Greeks built organs, which developed over the centuries into gigantic instruments with more than 30,000 pipes. While the organ played in sacred rooms for the emperor, there was another instrument that announced his appearance with fanfare sounds in secular areas — the trumpet!

Capuchin Church is centrally located near the Albertina on Neuer Markt in Vienna's city centre and is known for the Capuchin crypt, which served as the Habsburg burial site for centuries. Its modest interior is also its major asset — visitors are fascinated by the wooden furnishings.

Experience the combination of the king of instruments & the instrument of kings — organ & trumpet — in the church of the medicant order of the Capuchins and feel like an Emperor!
