There are but a few dream conductor‐orchestra combinations in this world. Andris Nelsons' liaison with the Boston Symphony Orchestra might just be one of these.

Max Bruch's "Kol Nidrei" is based on a Jewish prayer for the start of evening service on Yom Kippur. The 9th Symphony of Gustav Mahler, the harmonious weightlessness of which has been noted by many critics as Mahler's earthly departure, marks his final completed work as the main item on the evening's program.
