Mendelssohn, Schumann, Tchaikovsky: Tonkünstler Orchester

About the Event

Gilbert Varga, Principal Conductor of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra since 2013, joins the Tonkünstler Orchestra for a program featuring beloved works by Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Tchaikovsky.

His atmospheric opening with The Hebrides Overture takes us to the Scottish island of Staffa and Fingal’s Cave, which Mendelssohn visited on his travels. Spanish pianist Javier Perianes will perform Robert Schumann’s A minor Concerto. Following these two initial romantic treats, Tchaikovsky’s ‘Pathétique’ provides a symphonic climax.
