Step back into history and experience the grandeur of Baroque music at the beautiful French Cathedral in Berlin.
The Danish chamber music ensemble specialises in music of the late Renaissance, early Baroque and high Baroque. Composers such as A. Vivaldi and G. Ph. Telemann have a special place in the musicians' hearts, but also lesser‐known artists such as Uccellini or Quantz. In the spirit and style of the time, Flautando adapts the music to its ensemble — the music glides easily and elegantly between the different instruments of the individual artists, who have only recently come together on the Danish island of Møn, but who all have many years of concert experience in Denmark and in Europe.
French Cathedral
The Französischer Dom is one of the three key buildings at the Gendarmenmarkt, the most beautiful square in Berlin. The church was built as a place of worship for the Huguenots, followers of the Protestant Reformed Church of France, who were persecuted in their own country and found asylum in Berlin in the reign of Frederick the Great.
The French Cathedral stands opposite the German Church or Neue Kirche, their identical domes and styles forming a stunning architectural ensemble. Unusually, in this location, 'Dom' refers not to a German 'cathedral', but to the French 'dome'. The building houses the Huguenot museum, a restaurant and a viewing platform that offers a gorgeous view of Mitte district of Berlin.
