The challenging compositions of Vivaldi and Barrière demand a formidable musician of the highest caliber: someone like Bruno Cocset and his fellow virtuosos, Les Basses Réunies.

While 18th century France was still enamored with the viola, Barrière focused his passion instead on the violoncello. He perfected his technique first in Italy before returning to France, his path intersecting with that of Antonio Vivaldi, who worked to promote the instrument on the other side of the Alps.
