Le Postillon de Lonjumeau
Opéra Comique, Paris - Salle Favart
About the Event
Experience opera like never before in this astonishing performance the masterwork by Adam at Paris's remarkable Opéra Comique.
On his wedding day with a young innkeeper from Lonjumeau, the postillon Chapelou is spotted by the director of the Opera who hires him as a soloist and takes him to Paris. But Madeleine intends to get her husband back...
Adolphe Adam's mythical work returns to the Comic Opera where it was born: it set Europe on fire for a long time but had not been played within our walls since 1894.
Michael Spyres' talent and humour are needed to play this vain and seductive hero, Sébastien Rouland's enthusiasm to unveil this score by the master of romantic ballet, and Michel Fau's subtlety to do justice, after Ciboulette, to all the facets of this dazzling comedy.
Comic opera in 3 acts on a libretto by Adolphe de Leuven and Léon-Lévy Brunswick.
