La Cenerentola: Oper Leipzig

About the Event

Oper Leipzig presents Rossini's 'La Cenerentola' in a production by stage director Lindy Hume, under the baton of Anthony Bramall.

Although Rossini was inspired by Perrault's 'Cendrillon', or 'Cinderella', his opera is not a fairytale. 'La Cenerentola' is much more akin to Commedia dell’arte. Characters disguise themselves in a carnival of costumes and role changes. Within the turbulent story, there are poetic moments, love scenes between Cinderella and her prince Don Ramiro, and of course, the brilliant music by Rossini.
