Konzerthausorchester Berlin: Dennis Russell Davies, Kolja Blacher

About the Event

Visit the ancient world from the comfort of the Konzerthaus Berlin, as veteran American conductor Dennis Russell Davies leads the Konzerthaus Orchestra in Strauss' interpretation of 'The Dance of the Seven Veils' from 'Salome', and Leonard Bernstein's 'Serenade, after Plato: Symposium'.

Acclaimed German violinist Kolja Blacher plays the Serenade, with its distinct individual characters clearly modeled on the five speakers of the 'Symposium', though Bernstein denied the work had any programmatic element. Prokofiev's Third Symphony completes the program with its references to, if not antiquity, then at least the deepest traditions of Russian life and culture.

Practical Information

The Konzerthaus Berlin offers a varied program, from symphonic concerts to chamber music, from musical theater productions to special children's concerts, from early to contemporary music. The season program features many internationally renowned soloists and ensembles, as well as the Konzerthausorchester which has thrilled audiences for over 60 years with more than 100 concerts per season at its house at the Gendarmenmarkt!
