Janáček's From the House of the Dead: Opéra National de Paris

About the Event

The Opéra de Paris pays tribute to French director Patrice Chéreau who died in 2013 and offers the audience a chance to rediscover his production of Janáček's From the House of the Dead, initially created at the Wiener Festwochen in 2007.

Leoš Janáček based his opera on Fyodor Dostoyevsky's semi‐autobiographical novel The House of the Dead, which recounts the author's own memories of prison in Silesia.
