Iván Fischer, Till Fellner: Kagel, Beethoven, Zimmermann with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin

About the Event

Explore music that represents a revolution. Iván Ficher conducts the Konzerthausorchester in early Beethoven, with pianist Till Fellner, and boundary‐pushing works by Zimmermann and Kagel.

The perfection of Beethoven's Second Piano Concerto has long been a byword, taking piano writing far beyond the bounds set by Mozart and Haydn. The First Symphony owes more to those idols, but is unmistakably the work of a revolutionary force on the edge of beginning something new. With Max Hopp speaking, Kagel's 'Ten Marches to Miss the Victory' and Zimmermann's musical collage 'Music for the Suppers of King Ubu' display new approaches to classical music, and the interweaving of theatrical genres in the 20th Century.
