Discover an unexplored side to the verismo movement. Instrumental works by three of Italian verismo opera's most celebrated composers provides a fascinating insight into a world of music that is often overlooked.

Celebrated young Dutch violinist Rosanne Philippens joins the Radio Philharmonic for Busoni's Violin Concerto, and Valerio Galli conducts Puccini's Capriccio sinfonico . However, the highlight of the afternoon's entertainment is Mascagni's only film score, played with a rare showing of Nino Oxilia's eponymous film, starring silent movie star Lyda Borelli as a female Faustian character.
