Ibermúsica Presents: Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia

About the Event

We dressed up to receive the festive Christmas season to the rhythm of zarzuela and for such an important occasion, we received the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under the direction of Miquel Ortega and with a solo performance by Susana Cordón and Enrique Ferrer.

Created in 1992 by the City Council of A Coruña, the city in which the Opera House is located, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (OSG) is one of the most important orchestral groups in Spain, as well as an international brand with followers on all five continents through its YouTube channel.

The GSO, whose titular conductor since the 2013‐14 season is Dima Slobodeniouk, has been the resident orchestra of the Rossini Festival of Pesaro from 2003 to 2005 and of the Mozart Festival of A Coruña since its creation in 1998. In addition, its national and international presence has been constant, with concerts in the best venues in Spain and several tours in Germany and Austria. In 2007 he toured South America ‐with concerts in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Montevideo-, in late 2009 he performed at the historic Musikverein in Vienna and in 2016 he gave two concerts in the United Arab Emirates.

For its international concerts and subscription programs, G.S.O. has soloists such as Anne‐Sophie Mutter, Isabelle Faust, Maurizio Pollini, Krystian Zimerman, Grigory Sokolov, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Maria Joao Pires, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Leonidas Kavakos, Arcadi Volodos, Mischa Maisky, Javier Perianes and Christian Lindberg among many others.

With her have sung Bryn Terfell, Ewa Podles, Plácido Domingo, Juan Diego Flórez, Simon Estes, Leo Nucci, Alfredo Kraus, Teresa Berganza, María Bayo, Ainhoa Arteta, Mirella Freni, Ann Murray, Amanda Roocroft, Ildar Abdrazakov, Hildegard Behrens or Giuseppe Sabbatini, and always under the baton of masters like Gutavo Dudamel, Lorin Maazel, Eliahu Inbal, Neville Marriner, Michail Jurowski, Ton Koopman, Guennadi Rozdestvenski, Maurizio Pollini, Christoph Eschenbach, James Judd, Stanislaw Skrowaczeski, Richard Egarr, Daniel Harding, Jesús López Cobos, Osmo Vänskä, Alberto Zedda or Gianandrea Noseda among others.

In her discography for labels such as Deutsche Gramophon, Sony, EMI, DECCA, Koch, Naïve, BMG and Arts, there are names such as Juan Diego Flórez, Kaori Muraji, Peter Maag, Antonio Meneses, Iván Martín, Manuel Barrueco ‐with whom she has been nominated for the 2007 Grammy for the best classic album of the year-, María Bayo, Plácido Domingo, Juan Pons and Ewa Podles among others.
