Ibermúsica Presents: Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra‐Kent Nagano

About the Event

In 1878, Brahms wrote a concert highlighting the virtuosity of his great friend Joseph Joachim and on January 1, 1879, they both premiered the Violin and Orchestra Concerto in Leipzig. The lyrical nature of its melodies and the richness of its orchestration have made this work a favorite among violinists.

And when it comes to virtuosity, Veronika Eberle has a lot to say. The young German violinist was introduced by Sir Simon Rattle at the age of 16 to perform Beethoven's Concerto with the Berliner Philharmoniker and has since played with the world's leading ensembles.

In the second part of this concert we will be able to enjoy Brahms' last symphony. In spite of being one of the masterpieces of 19th century symphonic music, balanced in terms of musical structure, and beautiful melodies.

And all this from the Hamburg Philharmonic and its musical director, Kent Nagano. Johannes Brahms returns to his home town.
