Homage to Charlie Chaplin at L'auditori de Barcelona

About the Event

The spotlight is on film music as we feature three film scores. And the second half features a showing of one of Charlie Chaplin’s most entertaining works in which the power of live music expresses the full range of emotions of the story with romantic, rhythmic, energetic, sad and comical melodies.

Considered to be one of the greatest films in the history of cinema, Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane (1941) also boasts a groundbreaking original soundtrack written by the great Bernard Herrmann. Cartoons have always been a great excuse for writing music, and the song sung by the lovable bear Baloo in Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book (1967) will endure forever and was awarded an Oscar. Charlie Chaplin, who had extraordinary musical sensibility, receives a double homage: with a work featuring songs from his films (Limelight, This is my song, Titina…) and the soundtrack composed by Galician Antón Alcalde for the 1916 film The Pawnshop, to be played live during the showing of the film.
