Hape Kerkelings Kein Pardon — The Musical

About the Event

Based on the story of the feature film Kein Pardon, Hape Kerkeling and the comedian Thomas Hermanns developed the idea of a musical adaptation, which celebrated its world premiere 18 years after its film version on November 12, 2011 at the Capitol‐Theater in Düsseldorf.

Saturday night in the Ruhr region, the German industrial belt. The main theme of Eurovision is roaring on television. Enough time to serve the last canapés and get comfortable on the couch. When the melody of the song is played, everyone joins in an oscillation: 'Witzigkeit kennt keine Grenzen! Witzigkeit kennt keinnt Pardon!' ('Humour knows no limits, humour knows no apology'). For decades, the same ritual has been held every Saturday night in Peter Schlönzke's family. Shaking hands with Heinz Wäscher, the host of Saturday night's show, has always been Peter's secret dream. But when Peter learns Wäscher's true nature during a casting call, he loses control — on camera. The program director realizes the opportunity he has to give the program a new look and asks Peter to take on the role of program presenter. Suddenly, the little Peter is a star. But very soon, he learns how quickly television can change a person.
