About the Event
For over a hundred years, Engelbert Humperdinck's fairytale opera 'Hänsel and Gretel' has enchanted generations of young workers. Significantly, the premiere of this opera took place on the eve of Christmas Eve. To this day, this beloved opera is performed near Christmas in many opera houses. After all, Christmas is the feast of the family and Hansel and Gretel is the family opera par excellence.
As their children's eyes widen in amazement in their first operatic experience, parents can look back and revel in nostalgia. In our new production, director Birgit Eckenweber, together with her costume designer and set designer Alexander Mudlagk, sends Hansel and Gretel into a fantastic world of fairy tales that will no doubt fascinate them. Ah, being young again! Who doesn't want to be a child again?
