Gustavo Gimeno: Mahler's Fourth Symphony

About the Event

Succumb to the seductive images of texts by the German Romantics, as set by Mahler and Rolf Martinsson. Gustavo Gimeno makes his debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, and guest artist, soprano Lisa Larsson.

A child's idea of heaven forms the basis for the fourth movement of Mahler's fourth symphony, taking a text once again from Des Knaben Wunderhorn. Martinsson's 2014 work, Ich denke Dein… offers a less innocent point of view, in lovelorn texts by Goethe, Rilke, and Eichendorff.
