Relish this chance to hear two outstandingly versatile musicians play music of the 20th and 21st Centuries for cello and piano. Ranging from Janáček's folk‐tale‐inspired Pohádka or 'Fairytale', via the iconic Debussy Cello Sonata and Shostakovich's early Sonata in d minor, the pair come at last to Say's own work, Four Cities – Dört Şehir. Depicting four cities in the pianist‐composer's homeland — Anatolia — each with their own special character, the work encapsulates in miniature the musical landscape this concert provides.
