Extraordinary Concert with candlelights: Gounod & Mozart

About the Event

A myriad of candles will highlight the clean lines of the Sainte Clotilde Basilica in Paris, the first neo‐Gothic building ever built in France. With this concert the Choir of Paris and Nations153 wish to offer the public a new key to reading music through the language of shadows and lights, sublime music in a sublime place, a unique moment of magic.

November 22 is the day of Saint Cecilia, patron of the musicians, the one who, according to legend, left this world singing. It is therefore natural that the Choir of Paris chooses a Mass which is dedicated to her. And for the symbiosis to be perfect it is Gounod's work that is given, its composition and the construction of the basilica having been completed almost simultaneously.
Candlelight is a mysterious music, Mozart's Requiem a mystery of music: the work is obvious.
In the candlelight, under the attentive and generous wand of Till Aly time stops, the light is music, the basilica sings.
