European Romanticism: Brahms and Dvořàk
About the Event
A Brahms who experiments, ventures and goes beyond his limits when he comes to terms with the piano concerto and its tradition echoes Dvořák, a gentle 19th century man, with his Symphony No. 8, a creative and passionate masterpiece but respectful of tradition. On his return to the podium of LaVerdi, Zhang Xian compares two opposing ways of understanding music in European Romanticism. Accompanying her was Denis Kozhukhin, a young Russian pianist who made his debut with LaVerdi.
