Experience Jian Wang's performance of Edward Elgar's popular cello concerto and Nikolaj Znaider's interpretation of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 in the beautiful Konzerthaus Berlin.

Jian Wang's recording of the Elgar concerto with Vladimir Ashkenazy directing the Sydney Symphony Orchestra was released a few years ago to much praise, and the Chinese cellist promises to repeat that performance here in Berlin.

This piece will be paired with Shostakovich's 10th Symphony, in which the composer claims to have depicted Stalin and the Stalin years. It is full of allusions to classical tradition and codes representing, among other things, himself and Elmira Nazirova, a music student with whom he was in love.
