Deutsches Hygiene‐Museum

Dresden, Germany

The building in the style of Neue Sachlichkeit (»New Objectivity«) was erected in 1930 (architect: Wilhelm Kreis). Between 2003 and 2010 it was renovated and modernised by architect Peter Kulka. Today, the museum is not a »People’s Education Facility for Healthcare« any more, but a present‐day forum of science, culture and society. Apart from the permanent exhibition »Human Adventure« the museum presents internationally observed special exhibitions about current topics (spring 2012: »Passion«; autumn 2012: »Migration«). The museum is also host of events like discussions, conferences, readings and concerts. With approximately 300.000 visitors every year the Deutsche Hygiene‐Museum is one of the best frequented museums in Germany.
