About the Event

Float away to the heavenly visions of Mahler's Fourth Symphony. Daniele Gatti conducts the Concertgebouw Orchestra in this symphony based around a child's simple song  — 'Das himmlische Leben' or 'The heavenly life'.

German soprano Julia Kleiter is the orchestra's guest to sing the song as it finally appears, completed, in the symphony's last movement. The acclaimed Russian cellist Tatjana Vassiljeva opens the concert with Haydn's imposing Concerto in C.
