About the Event

Death is one of the few certainties in life, and perhaps therefore a formidable source of inspiration for composers. While one expresses resistance and anger, the other writes of sadness, resignation, or peace. Music is a part of life, but dying is a part of music. In keeping with this theme, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Vasily Petrenko perform works by Takemitsu, Mussorgsky, and Shostakovich.
