About the Event
Play the game of love at its most perilous and profound in the warm summer night at the Théâtre de l'Archevèché. Dmitri Tcherniakov returns to Aix‐en‐Provence with a new production of Mozart's most beautiful, and most problematic, opera.
Predictably for a Tcherniakov production, this new conception challenges preconceptions of the work, placing two middle‐aged couples in an inescapably constrained and claustrophobic environment. As the tension mounts, so too does Mozart's sublime music, conducted by acclaimed conductor Thomas Hengelbrock in his Aix debut, and performed by a sparkling cast that includes French star soprano, Véronique Gens.
