Connesson's Flammenschrift and Saint‐Saëns' Organ Symphony

About the Event

Spend Saturday afternoon with the power and might of the Concertgebouw organ. Stéphane Denève conducts the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, with guests Leo van Doeselaar and Antoine Tamestit.

Denève has an affiliation of long standing with Guillaume Connesson, and continues that association here, opening the concert with the French composer's Flammenschrift, before Tamestit plays the world premiere of Thierry Escaich's Viola Concerto. Acclaimed organist van Doeselaar then blows any dust off the pipes of the organ with Liszt's madrigal‐inspired Ave Maria d'Arcadelt. Finally, Saint‐Saëns' majestic Organ Concerto fills the hall with the resonant sound of the Concertgebouw's renowned organ at full force.
