Enjoy the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla with British masterworks in the stunning Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden.
With its Lithuanian chief conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla and the young British cello star Sheku Kanneh‐Mason, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra embarks on a journey through the British musical tradition. At the heart of this programme are two popular works, Edward Elgar's fateful Cello Concerto and Ralph Vaughan‐Williams' dreamy 'Fantasy on a Theme by Thomas Tallis'. Around both of them, the orchestra takes a historical bow, and of course there is also a contemporary: the British composer George Benjamin, who portrays a thunderstorm landscape in 'Ringed by the Flat Horizon'.
