Hengelbrock, Radu Lupu & Orchestre de Paris: Bartók, Szymanowski & Schumann
About the Event
Hold onto your hats as the bold conductor Thomas Hengelbrock, along with pianist Radu Lupu and the Orchestre de Paris, take you on an emotional ride through a programme of Bartók, Schumann, and Szymanowski.
Szymanowski's brilliant and imaginative overture is orchestrated with remarkable finesse for a twenty‐two year old composer. Schumann was the same age when he tried his hand at composing for the orchestra. This, his second symphony, can only be described as profoundly and painfully beautiful.
Bartók's Piano Concerto No. 3 was composed at the end of his life while he was in exile. Bartók held on to music and infused this concerto with a rhythm reminiscent of the rodeo.
