The musicians of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra are regarded as exceptional chamber musicians—four of them comprise the Mahler Quartet. The young members of this esteemed ensemble have crafted an exciting program for their concert, focused on Johannes Brahms' String Quartet in A minor, Op. 51 No. 2.
Brahms’ Second String Quartet is viewed as the lyrical counterpart to his dramatic First Quartet. After years of struggle, he composed a piece of great formal density and internal passion, where each motif is skillfully developed.
