Casals Quartet plays Beethoven

About the Event

Spanish string quartet Cuarteto Casals will perform all of Beethoven’s string quartets in 2020 – the big Beethoven year. They will be featured on two weekends in the spring and one weekend in the fall.
Haydn was the father of the string quartet, and Mozart its brilliant trustee, but it was Beethoven who then transformed the art of the quartet into something tremendous. The 16 quartets came in three phases throughout his lifetime – and each phase comprised a dizzying stride forward for the art of the quartet.
