Carmen: Festival d'Aix‐en‐Provence

About the Event

Admire one of the most famous operas of all times on the grandiose scene of Grand Théâtre de Provence: director Dmitri Tcherniakov offers his vision of Carmen, Bizet's mythical story of freedom and passion.

Bizet's masterpiece, based on Prosper Mérimée's short story, has been offering an infinite number of readings to several generations of opera directors since its creation in 1875. Tcherniakov's approach is to show us Carmen, the magnificent rebellious bird, through the eyes of José, her rejected lover.
