Calidore Quartet Plays Beethoven at Dresden Music Festival

About the Event

The American Calidore String Quartet, another innovative chamber music ensemble, presents its sonic perspective on the string quartets of Beethoven. Founded in 2010, the quartet was awarded the third prize at the »ARD Music Competition« and was part of the »BBC New Generation Artist Program« two years later. The four musicians present three string quartets, which succinctly reflect Beethoven's genre‐historical development, beginning with the fourth quartet from the first series on the 'Harp Quartet' from 1809, which owes its name to extensive pizzicato passages, to the late B ‐Tur‐Quartet Op. 130, in which Beethoven first extended the classic four‐movement to six‐movement.
