Bolero with Sinfonia Leipzig at Kurhaus Wiesbaden

About the Event

Experience classical music like never before in this astonishing performance at the remarkable Kurhaus Wiesbaden.

A very special musical beginning of spring awaits you with a unique selection of famous orchestral pieces of the modern and romantic periods. Let yourself be carried away by the energy of Maurice Ravel's Bolero, the suite from the opera Carmen, the wonderful Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy and many more.

A first‐class orchestra under the direction of Knut Andreas brings the exciting program to life. Playful melodies, sophisticated playing techniques alternate with romantic moments and symphonic sounds.

Maurice Ravel — one of the main representatives of French Impressionism wrote the famous orchestral piece as a commission for the French dancer Ida Lwowna Rubinstein . The Bolero captivates with its art of simplicity, and plays — as the composer himself once said — with a single element of variety: the crescendo of the orchestra, which in the course of the 15‐minute playing time gains more and more volume. The piece was first performed with a group of dancers. With his unconventional compositional style for the time, Ravel opened the way for later avant‐garde movements in music.
