Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony & Prokofiev's Cello Concerto at L'auditori de Barcelona

About the Event

More than just painting a landscape, music inspires a state of mind within us where we are in communion with nature. Beethoven was still conducting orchestras when his Sixth Symphony premiered at the end of 1808. It would be the last time he would appear on stage. When he was asked what exactly the Pastoral Symphony was talking about, he would respond: ‘It is up to each person to imagine it’. A masterpiece full of colour, feeling, rhythm and passion that is equally moving every time we hear it. One hundred years later, in the Empordà region of Catalonia, Juli Garreta composed his Pastoral, a short symphonic poem with much fewer aspirations, but the same love for nature and popular rhythms. Norwegian cellist Truls Mørk will perform for us the great work written by Prokofiev.
